Let’s be clear about the type of work that results in a successful Genius Hour project:   

 

• An original science experiment

• An original piece of art, music, drama, dance, play, etc.

• An original piece of work on a topic that interests you (written essay, website, etc)

• An original game, app, novel or illustrated book

• An invention or redesign of an existing product that better serves it’s purpose

• A prototype or design of a product that solves a problem you identify

• An original piece of work that investigates a career

• The implementation of a program that benefits the community

Don’t rush the design, building, performing, writing or doing. A considerable amount of preparation needs to occur prior to actual product or event. Your Genius Hour project has to have a strong purpose and you should think about how to meet your goals. You will learn from your mistakes, and remember, the only way to “fail” is to not have a project.
