What you will turn in
Green Write-up
1. Definition/explanation of each green aspect: heating and cooling, water use, electricity use and sustainable construction.
2. The rationale for selecting the specific greening aspects, the impact they currently make in an average household and the expected carbon footprint savings.
For example:
An average household uses electricity obtained from burning natural gas. The CO2 emissions created by the production of electricity from natural gas are 1.22 pounds of CO2 per kilowatt-hour. By installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) panel – we will reduce the impact to about 0.16 lbs of carbon dioxide-equivalent per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated.
3. Pro/con analysis for the use of each green aspect.
4. Resources used
Each green item should be about 1 page of typed information
Resources that may help you with this.
Floor plan (to scale).
The most fundamental architectural diagram, a view from above showing the arrangement of spaces in building in the same way as a map, but showing the arrangement at a particular level of a building. Technically it is a horizontal section cut through a building, showing walls, windows and door openings and other features at that level. The plan view includes anything that could be seen below that level: the floor, stairs (but only up to the plan level), fittings and furniture.
Notice that the rooms and calculated areas are clearly labeled.
Prototype materials
One of the things that sometimes trips designers is the disparity between prototype materials and actual materials used on the final product.
For each of the components, list the material that will be used "in real life", describe its function and then add the material that will take its place on your prototype.
You will not use the cost for this project.
3D Prototype (to scale).
Real-life: Due to the nature of the project itself, all materials used must be recycled/re-purposed (with the obvious exception of bonding materials). Examples of acceptable materials include: cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, food containers, yarn, twine string, coat hangers, old electronics, etc. You will probably need to simulate some of the build (e.g. solar panels made from water bottles, pipes made out of string or wire). Store-bought kits will not be accepted and will result on no credit. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO BRING ALL BUILDING MATERIALS, my sources are completely depleted.
Furnishings:
For this build, you will also create the furnishings that will go inside your house. Add the sketches to your building plans (to scale), and use the sketches to craft your furnishings. Your clients will want to see area rugs, couches, tables, chairs, beds, etc. Consider how these furnishings will help enhance the quality of living of the people who will eventually live in your eco-friendly house.

Sales Pitch
Place yourself in the role of a real-estate agent trying to convince us that your house is "the most eco-friendly house in the neighborhood". Sell us the green aspects by explaining them to us in terms of overall benefits and how they would enhance our lives.
Include a 2 minute videotaped "walkthrough" of your house AND a real-estate flyer.
