Six Flags Amusement Park has been hearing from its customers that their roller coasters are boring. The public is threatening that if the amusement park does not build a new, more exciting roller coaster they will stop going to the amusement park.

Your task

You are part of a team of engineers that has just been asked to submit a new roller coaster design to the amusement park. Using the concepts of forces, motion, and energy, design and build a model of a workable roller coaster prototype that could be built in the Six Flags Amusement Park.

The Rules

- Actively participate in the lessons. You will be creating different sections of track as you go along to illustrate the concepts you need to cover in your final product. Materials missused, destroyed or "lost" will not be replaced.

- As you complete each section, you will need to "cash in" your work. The total number of gold coins available is $509.00. In order to participate in the final build, you will need to have a minimum of $350. This is your individual builder's permit fee.

- The remaining gold coins will be used to purchase materials. Materials will only be sold to teams that have a complete paper prototype that includes calculations and dimensions, as this is what will be used to purchase materials for your team. Make sure your scale is accurate and the dimensions are correct since there will be no extras. Teams who do not submit their paper prototype by the due date will not receive materials.

- Individuals or teams that interfere with another team's build in any way will forfeit their gold coins and will not be allowed to continue participating. Alternate paper assignments (worksheets) will be given and final grade will be determined through the evaluation of the alternate assignments.
